Hinesburg Firefighters Visit!
We had some special visitors today! A few Hinesburg Firefighters visited our school to teach us about fire safety. We learned all about the protective clothing that firefighters wear when fighting fires including pants, jacket, and hood. We even got to see how the mask and breathing apparatus work. It was very exciting! The firefighter explained to the children that if there is ever a fire that they should yell for help and never hide from a fire fighter who is trying to help them. Later in the day we learned all about the fire and rescue trucks outside in front of the school. The firefighters showed us all of the parts and explained their purpose and answered the children's questions.

Meet Miss Carlyle
Hello Students and Parents! My name is Miss Carlyle and I am so happy to be with Mrs. Twarog's first grade class this fall. I am a junior at the University of Vermont studying Elementary and Special Education. Learning is one of my greatest passions and I can't wait to share that with you all. I like to paint, draw, take photographs and go hiking! I am also learning to play ice hockey this year. I believe that every person has their own story and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn yours!

The first few days of school!
We are off to a magnificent start! Your children are learning routines, making new friends, and having fun!
In math we are becoming oriented to rotating through math "work places." We practice handling materials appropriately and working cooperatively!
We write everyday during writer's workshop! Here students are writing and drawing about small moments in their lives.
We've been taking some movement breaks on the playground as we adjust to our long school days! It's been a lot of fun playing with old friends and getting to know new friends on the playground!
