On Wednesday we had wonderful weather for a walk to the new Hinesburg Police Station.  Chief Frank Koss showed us all around and answered many of our questions!  Thank you, Chief!

Fun-O-Ween!

We had so much fun on Fun-O-Ween! Some of activities we participated in included: listening to beginner band play music for Freeze Dance, spooky stories in the Library with Ms. Stanley, a game called Ghost in the Graveyard (Red Light, Green Light), Musical Chairs, coloring Halloween pictures, and Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin!  And as you can see below, everyone looked great for the festivities!

Fire Safety

Last Friday we had a visit from some members of the Hinesburg Fire Department, including Evan's Dad, Mr. Spivack!  They taught us about fire safety and gave us a tour of the fire truck and emergency equipment!  Thank you, Hinesburg Firefighters!

Reading Stations

During reading time the children are doing a wonderful job rotating through reading stations!  The children look at a “workboard” with pictures that represent different literacy activities.  This helps them know where they are expected to be at each part of the rotation.  This past week our stations included: reading independently, using Lexia on the computers, writing, and ABC work.

Learning Math Routines

At the beginning of the school year, students spend time becoming oriented to our routine of rotating through math "work places." They practice handling materials appropriately, working cooperatively, and as you can see from the pictures they have fun doing it!

Field Day!

We had a great field day last Friday!  The rainy weather held off for the perfect length of time for all groups to rotate through the stations.  We had so much fun playing with the parachute, hula hooping, face painting, playing Capture the Flag, playing Tug of War, and water sliding!  During the afternoon we went to the gym to listen to a high school band comprised of former HCS students!   Check out some of these photos of highlights from our day!
