Making Glue!

Has your child told you about the glue that he/she has made? In our latest science unit the students have become glue engineers and have been learning about and experimenting with the best ingredients to use to make glue. 

Tent Reading!

February was "I Love to Read Month!" To celebrate we spent time reading in forts with flashlights. It was so much fun!

100th Day of School

Thursday was our 100th school day!  The students worked hard on their 100 day projects and were proud to share their creations with others!  Check out our fabulous projects in the photos below.

 

Measuring in Math

We have started Unit 4 in math this week which is all about measurement.Students have been busy measuring things around our classroom in teacher feet, giant feet, and tiles. 

Mad Hatter Activity!

 During science this week we explored material properties and participated in a"Mad Hatter" engineering task.  We pretended that we were stranded on an island and needed to create a comfortable hat that would protect us from the sun and absorb sweat.  Each child was given certain materials that he/she tested for comfort, stiffness, and if it was water proof. The students were then asked to create a hat with these materials. Check out the photos below of the great hats they made! 

Colonial Craft Day

Colonial Craft Day was a hit! During the craft fair, students enjoyed different activities, such as making pomander balls, corn husk dolls, bilbo catchers, playing marbles, and more!  Thank you to all who donated time and/or supplies.  We could not do this event without the help of families and appreciate all you do!
