Paper seeds

In science we are learning about plants!  We  made three different seed models out of paper and tested them out to see how they traveled! 

Eyes of the Hurricane

Our second grade students have teamed up with Mr. Heney's class to raise money for the victims of the recent hurricanes. Today we got together with the 7th graders to make "Eyes of the Hurricane." Students will be selling these and donating the funds.  Stay tuned for more information about how you can purchase one of these beautiful decorations to support your children's efforts.

On Monday, we were welcomed back to school with a surprise! One of our Monarch butterflies hatched!

Our butterfly was able to start off it's journey south with a buddy - Mrs. Hodge's class's butterfly hatched on the same day as ours!

Field Day!

Field day had to be inside this year because of rain, but that didn't stop us from having a lot of fun together! 

Motion and Maps

We have been exploring motion in science and math! The second graders have been using marbles, cardboard tubes, blocks, and measuring tapes to explore and observe how they can get marbles moving without pushing them. They've come up with theories about what causes marbles to move further or faster and are testing them now and collecting data. Today we explored with wheels (discs) and axles(straws).This has been a ton of fun and we've learned a few things too!

Hinesburg Rocks!

We painted our rocks for the Hinesburg Rocks project today. Your children were very thoughtful with the designing and decorating of their rocks. Their kind words and pictures will be sure to bring a smile when their rocks are spotted around Hinesburg! We plan on placing them around town as a class during the week of May 15th.
